April Meeting: Kevin Bolk on Creating Cartoons, Comics, and Graphic Novels

The Baltimore Chapter and friends the CityLit Project and the Write Here, Write Now workshops, presents cartoonist and proud comic geek Kevin Bolk for "Beyond Blam! Pow! Splat!: Creating Cartoons, Comics, and Graphic Novels." Kevin will discuss the evolving world of comic books and graphic novels. Get a brief history of the medium in America, as well as tips on how sequential art is created, and its role in today's publishing industry and beyond. In less stuffy professional terms, let's talk comics!

Kevin Bolk is a freelance cartoonist, illustrator, dreamer, and proud alumnus of Awesome University (his favorite imaginary alma mater). Diverse, colorful, expressive, and quirky, Kevin's work has appeared in publications by Nickelodeon, Tokyopop, Udon Entertainment, and Draco Software, as well as benefit albums for the charity group, Voices For. He currently produces weekly online comics and books for Interrobang Studios and his own website, www.kevinbolk.com.

Monday, April 26 at 7:00 at Cyclops Bookstore, Baltimore City's only independent general bookstore, 30 W. North Ave. at Maryland Avenue, in Baltimore.
